Devarsh Patel is a 10 year old boy who has been recently been diagnosed with an adult form of leukemia – Chronic Myeloid Leukemiaa (CML). He is currently in the 5th grade. Devarsh loves playing cricket with his friends and spending time outdoors. The best chance of finding a match for Devarsh is from the South Asian community. He has not found a match yet. By registering with the national registry as a volunteer marrow blood stem cell donor, you can give him the precious gift of time, and the chance to live out his dreams.

He is a 21 month old boy who has been recently diagnosed with AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia). Anand loves playing catch with his brother and spending time outdoors. He, like all AML patients, needs a matched transplant and must rely on the compassion of volunteer marrow/blood cell donors to be cured of this dreaded disease. We need to recruit as many potential donors as possible to provide Anand and all other patients with a second chance at life.

We are happy to report that Parag has undergone a transplant and is doing well. Please say a prayer for his quick recovery.

Parag is a 29 year old husband who has been diagnosed with leukemia. His wife, Manisha, and he were desperately looking for a match. Like every couple, they have many hopes and dreams but have had to put them on hold due to his disease. ISSO Seva and SAMAR united to help Parag and Manisha successfully execute numerous Bone Marrow Drives throughout the country.

Please take advantage of the wonderful gift you have been given and Save Someone’s life. You can help other Leukemia individuals beat this disease by becoming a potential marrow/blood cell donor. Please join ISSO Seva at their next Bone Marrow Drive.

It brings us much sorrow to inform you that Sameer has passed away. Sameer went through so much and his friends and family worked tirelessly to make sure he received a transplant. But, he has been called to a higher place and our prayers are with him. We also pray for his friends and family.

Sameer Bhatia was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), a cancer of the blood. Sameer, a Stanford alum, was a very dear friend to us and known to many for his efforts in launching the American India Foundation, Project DOSTI, TiE (Chicago), a microfinance fund, and other causes focused on helping others. Sameer was a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and got married to Reena in 2006. His diagnosis caught us all by surprise given that he has always been in peak condition.

ISSO Seva is sad to inform you that we have lost one of our members. Roshni’s passing was sudden and most unexpected at the young age of 25 years. She played an integral part at the ISSO Seva Health Fair in Massachusetts. She always gave a helping and loving hand to anyone in need. It was her nature to help those who could not help themselves. She also touched the lives of many others who she did not personally know through volunteering and donation.

Roshni was an altruistic and loving person as she always made people laugh. She would always light up a room with her smile. For those who remember Roshni, as a baby she demanded everyone’s full attention and as she grew into a beautiful young woman she no longer demanded attention, but was naturally the center of attention.

She was only with us a short 25 years, but she managed to accomplish more in those years than most people do in a lifetime. Roshni has always been very special to us. As everyone has expressed how much they loved her and how much they would miss her, we did not realize until her passing just how special she was to so many other people as well. She had a personality that would seek people, regardless of age or profession and she had the gift of making everyone feel very special. Roshni’s absence has left a huge hole in ISSO Seva’s heart, but her family has been the luckiest to have had her in there lives for 25 years.

Roshni had a passion for kids and she would help them in any capacity possible. She loved playing with the “little fatties”. She wanted to adopt every unfortunate child she came across and her dream was to open a day care center one day and enjoy kids on a full-time basis. Although our hearts are broken and we will miss our Rosh, it gives us comfort knowing that even in passing Roshni was still able to do what she loved best – helping others. In honor of Roshni, we chose to continue her efforts and give to an organization that she was very closely tied to.

As a full-time college student at New York University and a full-time employee at Morgan Stanley, she volunteered her weekends at the New York Presbyterian Children’s Hospital. Roshni passed away a day before her 26th birthday. Every birthday when asked what she would like as a gift, she would always respond “I have everything to satisfy me, however there are a lot of needy people out there. They need the gift more than I do.” We know how proud Rosh would be, knowing that someone in need will benefit from a donation to Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, Office of Development, 654 West 170th Street, New York, NY 10032.

These donations will be directed to support the Child Life programs at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. These programs provide age appropriate toys and games, and manage playrooms and activities for patients in the hospital. Child Life Specialists work with patients to relieve their stress and anxiety, help them understand their environment and medical procedures, and help them live as normally as possible while in the hospital.

ISSO Seva would like to send our deepest regards and warmest condolences to her family and friends. Please contact us through this website, if you would like to make a contribution to her Child Life programs at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.
